Born in Middletown, Connecticut,, Catherine excelled in art at an early age. She began exhibiting her paintings in high school and won two National Scholastic Art Awards when she was 16.
She attended Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and then moved to Hawaii for many years where she attended the Honolulu Art Academy and University of Hawaii. Upon her return to California she earned her degree from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Catherine has won several art awards regionally and nationally throughout her career, and is represented in galleries in Southern California and Connecticut.
Primarily a figurative painter , her inspiration comes from everyday situations, especially when she is at the beach. Her concern is to project a specific emotional feeling through color, light and design. As varied as her subject matter is, one unifying theme is her dedication to capturing the nuances of light as it transforms objects.
